Where the earlier paintings from his Preservation Series used to be more Observational depictions of the jungle green, the new works begin to reveal the artist's concerns for the mood of the forest. Gone is the monotony of green derived from more photographic references. The handling of varying color moods now .

Johan Marjonid has the virtue of being literal, objective and unpretentious. Within a fraternity, which is obsessed with abstraction, where conventional realism is so often considered mindless and largely kitsch, Johan has put his heart and soul, his love for the rainforest onto large, realistic canvases
